About Us

Who We AreURSULA stands for Unified Rating System, Universal Lifecycle Assessment.

Our Mission
URSULA is a worldwide, online open community dedicated to enabling a good idea. Our agenda is to create climate balance, restore the earth and uplift humanity in the service of birthing a new world of shared peace, equality and abundance that serves all.

Our Vision
URSULA’s goal is to develop unified scores and ratings that act as value measurements to eventually inform a true price for everything.  This will enable us to create societies that are aligned with the intrinsic value of nature and the vast promise of human potential.  Such societies will enable us to transition life on earth to a shared and positive future, with profoundly felt economic, social and environmental returns for all.

A Good Idea

"The earth, and its ability to sustain life, is the origin of all real
wealth and the only logical fundamental basis of value.
We are required to sustain it, so that it may sustain us.
 To sustain it, first we must value it.
To value it, we must assess it.
 To assess it we must measure it.
To measure it, we require a rule.
URSULA uses a standard of global sustainability as the rule
 by which value is measured and assessed."

A New Value Assessment
We begin by defining an ideal of universal global sustainability in terms of Three Objectives:

  • creating climate balance, a fundamental condition for life as we know it today;
  • restoring the earth, and its inherent ability to sustain and enrich life, which is the essential condition for a prosperous humanity;
  • uplifting humanity to share in universal peace, equality and abundance, the vital criteria for humans to reach their full potential.

These objectives are not dreams, and they are not long-range ends in themselves. Rather, they are the baseline for a shared future of prosperity for all. There are many different definitions of sustainability; it is a subjective term that means different things to different people and interests. Our Universal Sustainability is one that aims to serve all life incorporating the contributions on this definition by the global community. As URSULA gathers more perspectives and facts from more sources, we will build a collaborative definition of sustainability that takes all input and voices into account.

A New Rule
URSULA creates communities of experts to establish the best ways to reach these objectives.  These methods, dynamic and adaptable to change, act as a rule against which we measure and assess everything against the Three Objectives, the highest purpose service to the family of humankind.

A New Standard
We recognize a new community-created standard, a world in which the best ways of accomplishing universal social equity and access to nature’s inherent value becomes a dynamic global standard.

A new standard is accomplished and maintained by an open, fair and collaborative global society of the wise, and by a prevailing value system that is accountable to the limits of nature, the laws of reason and to future generations against service to our mission.

A New Imagined Future
We believe that there is more than enough for everyone.  Accordingly, we set our sights on global and sustainable abundance that reaches deep into every community on earth. The world we build by sharing our gifts with one another will yield social equity, environmental integrity and economic vitality in a dynamic and harmonic balance.

About Us
In 2007, 3Phases, LLC, a renewable energy trader and developer, was looking for a simple way to demonstrate solar energy’s concrete and quantifiable net social, environmental and economic advantage over fossil fuels. We wanted to measure hard costs savings as well as softer quality-of-life effects.

In the course of analyzing the data, we encountered typical data problems—the data could not be compared, the scope of the analysis was insufficient for our needs, there was very little information on soft inputs, and compiling all of this information by hand was time consuming and expensive.

It became clear that rapidly and consistently demonstrating the true value of benefitting the planet and the true costs of harming it required a simple and comprehensive system—one that did not exist.

So we created one.

Today we proudly announce completion of the URSULA (Unified Rating System, Universal Lifecycle Assessment) prototype. Please contact us for a demonstration.
